HOW THE SCHOOL REACHES ADMISSIONS DECISIONS
An Admissions Committee, comprised of faculty and administrators, will review all completed applications. Contracts are issued on a rolling basis beginning late February, 2008. Contracts with financial aid are awarded beginning mid-March.

St. Michael's goal is to provide a rich academic, spiritual and cultural experience for its students and faculty. Achieving that goal requires that St. Michael's have maximum flexibility in making admissions decision. The school seeks students of average to above average ability who can contribute to and benefit from its program. Students are selected for admission to the school on the basis of academic, potential, developmental maturity, school achievement, and readiness for the school's program. Where appropriate, testing is used as a tool to provide information to assist in the assessment of each candidate. In all cases, the school retains the right to determine, in its sole discretion, whether or not to select a student for admission or to re-enroll a student. Typically, those decisions are based upon multiple criteria:

  • Academic readiness or qualification
  • Developmental maturity
  • Affiliation with the school and church
  • Diversity and gender balance
  • Appropriateness of the match between the family and the school.

When the school cannot offer a place to a child, we are eager to offer counsel on other schools that may be able to accommodate the student. When there are more qualified candidates than openings available, the school establishes an unranked waiting list. If any openings occur, the admissions committee decides which candidate(s) to offer a position based on the overall profile of class and the match between the needs and qualifications of the student with the needs of the school.

Financial aid is available on an annual basis in the spring. The school's Financial Aid Committee makes recommendations on a financial need basis only; no merit aid is awarded.

It is the policy of the school not to discriminate in violation of the law on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, or disability which is unrelated to the ability to enjoy the benefits of the school's programs, facilities, or services. St. Michael's welcomes application from all persons.

Financial Aid

A mission of St. Michael's is to provide its quality education to students from all economic backgrounds. Therefore, the school makes a concerted effort to make the necessary fiscal resources available to meet that goal. Nearly one of every five children receives some level of aid. Last year the average award was $2,300. Financial aid is awarded only on a basis of demonstrated need and on an annual basis. However, in accepting a student on financial aid, St. Michael's makes a commitment to attempt to support the continued attendance of the student through graduation, pending satisfactory performance and continued financial need. Families are responsible for inquiring about financial aid, obtaining the necessary forms from the school office, and observing all deadlines. If you are interested in applying for financial aid, you may obtain financial aid forms when you bring your completed application form to the school.
