Since 1958, St. Michael's has been nourishing a community of students
and faculty while fostering the intellectual, physical, artistic,
ethical and spiritual development of its students. St. Michael's
has been able to do this while keeping tuition rates at a moderate
level. This has only been possible with the generosity of our Southern
Arizona Community. Last school year over $450,000 was given through
a variety of fundraising efforts, some of which are mentioned below.
St. Michael's Annual Fund is the cornerstone of philanthropic support
for the school. Gifts to the Annual Fund go to meet operating needs
(faculty salaries, technology upgrades, educational materials,
and more) during the school year in which they are received. The
Annual Fund creates the "margin of excellence" for St.
Michael's while keeping tuition at moderate levels. In fact tuition
covers only about 82% of our financial need. St. Michael’s
receives no government support. The Annual Fund helps to
maintain the quality of our programming and the strength of our
faculty. In 2006-2007 we exceeded our annual goal of $75,000. Be
sure to check with your employer about a matching gift program
and double your contribution to the Annual Fund.
Become a St. Michael's Star! All you have to do is give to the
Annual Fund for five consecutive years at a level of your choosing
and your name will appear on a STAR on the north wall of the Student
Center.

As we celebrate our School's 50th Anniversary,
students, alumni/ae, parents, parishioners, grandparents, and friends
of St. Michael's have a wonderful opportunity to participate
in the revitalization of a special place, the Sunken Garden. Remember
when it was the social center for the Church? Now we can
commemorate our relationship with the school and /or the church
by purchasing a brick or paver. Bricks and pavers can be
engraved with your name, a friend's name, or the name of
a loved one. Add a logo or the year to celebrate your graduation
or wedding anniversary.

The Spring Event is managed by the Development Department in coordination with
parent volunteers. The Spring Event is a major fundraiser that brings together
school, church families, staff and members of the community for fun and fellowship.
In 2007, staff and volunteers exceeded the goal of $72,000.
This is a program that offers a gift that costs you nothing and
gives a gift of quality education to a deserving child who otherwise
wouldn’t be able to afford the experience. In 1998 the
Arizona State Legislature passed legislation that allows taxpayers
to contribute up to $625 for couples and $500 for single taxpayers
to School Tuition Organizations such as the AZ Episcopal Schools
Foundation (AESF). These funds are restricted to scholarships
for students attending private schools. This temporary program
has covered all scholarship expenses for the past four years.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this program!

jointly. Use your credit card and call 520-320-1386. Over
the last eight years, more than 650 students have received financial
aid from St. Michael’s through this program. Your contributions
will make a big difference for area children. When you contribute
to the Arizona Episcopal Schools Foundation, you are enriching
the lives of many children.
The foundation qualifies for employer matching funds programs. You
could double your contribution just by checking with your employer!
DONATIONS ARE ONLY PAYABLE TO AESF (not St. Michael’s)
AND ARE DUE DECEMBER 31, 2007.
In 2006 the Arizona Legislature passed a law that allows “C” Corporations to
receive a dollar for dollar tax credit for donations made to qualified
private schools to use for scholarships to disadvantaged children.

2000 and Beyond is a Capital Campaign begun in 1997 to facilitate
the growth of St. Michael's student population from one section
per grade level to two in grades kindergarten through five. This
effort resulted in the construction of the new Middle School Wing,
the Science Discovery Center and Wetlands, and the Technology Center
occupied in January 1999. Almost 300 donors pledged $1 million
completing this campaign in spring 2001. The debt was repaid in
September, 2002. Phase II of the Master Plan, a $1.5 million primary
school and parish center building project was completed in September
2000 through the generosity of an anonymous donor. Phase III construction,
a $2.5 million project that included classroom upgrades and the
Student Center/gymnasium, is now complete. This phase was made
possible by the generosity of an anonymous donor.
The Endowment Campaign for St. Michael's School is an effort designed
to fully fund need-based scholarships, to enhance teacher's salaries,
and make certain that our beautiful campus and classrooms will
be maintained properly for generations to come. This campaign will
ensure our ability to maintain our excellence while keeping tuition
moderate. The goal for this campaign is $1 million. Phase I was
successfully completed in the Spring of 2005.

Cash gifts are always welcome contributions for which donors may
receive tax benefits if they itemize deductions. Larger gifts made
on credit cards are also accepted.
Pledges to St. Michael's can be paid over three to five years.
By transferring gifts of appreciated stocks to the school, donors
may realize substantial tax advantages. Capital gains on the amount
of the appreciation are avoided, and the donor receives a tax deduction
for the stock's full market value up to the limits of the law.
Gifts of residence and real estate may be an excellent way to make
a sizable gift to St. Michael's. A donor of real estate receives
a tax deduction, avoids capital gains and retains lifetime occupancy
if desired.
Property gifts include donations of art, equipment, rare books and
similar non-monetary contributions.
Many companies will match or multiply donations to St. Michael's
by their employees, and donors are urged to request that their companies
match gifts to the school.
You can provide services or materials necessary for any of our many
programs. Printing services, building materials, toys and sports
equipment are all needed.
Making a contribution through life insurance policies provides tax
deductions and may enable the donor to make a larger gift than otherwise
possible. The donor may name St. Michael's as beneficiary or co-beneficiary.
A bequest is a gift made through a will or living trust. Donors
receive full tax benefits for their contribution, maintaining income
and capital during his or her lifetime.
